September 2011 Bloom Day (part II)

Thursday, 15 Sep 11 Rainy 23°C / 74°F

Along with cardinal vine (which I mentioned in an earlier journal), Gaillardia is the star of the show at this point in the season. Many flowering plants are slowing down and starting to look a bit ragged, but there are still plenty of flowers for me and the pollinators to enjoy.

My orange mint has clean and attractive foliage along with its beautiful flowers, which are constantly being visited by pollinators. It’s a very vigorous plant, so doesn’t play so well with others unless vigilantly kept within bounds. But I think that it’s worth the effort of doing so.

The morning glories have totally taken over one of our fence lines.

1 & 2 – Gaillardia
3 – Orange Mint
4 – Echinacea & Rudbeckia
5 – Morning glories

I love your Gaillardia. I wish I had enough sun to grow it.
