Today: Frances Joiner, Cameroons (first), Alpine Mist, Chorus Line, Cool Jazz, Pewter Lake, Shark’s Tooth, Chinese Scholar, Betty Warren Woods, Victoria Elizabeth Barnes (1st), Water Bird (first), Charming Ethel Smith, Chasing Shadows, Prairie Blossoms, Two to Tango, Transcendent Artistry, and Lohengrin. Hall’s Pink, Decatur Apricot, Grape Arbor.

Clem Odoriba is blooming well. Two to Tango is not a good color for there, though, and neither is Lohengrin.

I transplanted a young hellebore to the space just beyond Odoriba and Transcendent Artistry, half or all under the red twig dogwood. There was blue flax near there last year but it didn’t seem to grow this year. Clem. Red Cardinal is in that area but has had no flowers yet. I hope the red twig doesn’t make it too shady for him.

Yesterday: Spanish Sketch, Grape Arbor, Chasing Shadows, Brave World, Helix, YDD, Betty, Tango, Fashion Bug (first), Hall’s Pink, Little Maggie, Pewter Lake, Shark’s Tooth, Autumn Awakening, Daveo, Persian, CBP, RR, Charming Ethel Smith.

I managed to break off the long pieces of the eucalyptus — they were so dead they snapped. Unfortunately I didn’t get the root dug out and the darn thing has new growth.

My fellow came in looking pleased, said he had been looking at our garden, and we shouldn’t change a thing. I just snickered to myself, because it looks different every year no matter what I do or don’t do. And I haven’t been able to go a full year without buying a plant since I was old enough to buy a plant myself.

LOL. Famous words of non gardeners, which ive also heard many times… If only they gardened too, perhaps theyd understand how unlikely- nearly impossible- it is to ‘keep the garden just as it is!’
As u and I know- Gardens aren’t like statues- they are dynamic.
    constantly living, growing, changing.
This very same garden won’t quite look the same tomorrow, not even if U wanted to keep it the same, I bet.

Still I think these commenters who ask to ‘keep it the same’ do mean well.
I think its meant as a compliment- to say ‘I believe the garden is perfect right now, why improve upon perfection?’
