Had the day off work, but couldn’t leave the house, so didn’t accomplish much. I sat out in the garden reading for a while, tidied up some pots and compost, watered everything. Washed a load of laundry and got it on the line quite early. Other than that I’ve been lazing about watching True Blood and drinking strawberry Ribena.
Lots of nice stuff in bloom right now, several things budding and a few things giving up the ghost (some violas and nasturtiums.) Wish I could think of something pale primrose yellow for the cutting garden that blooms about now through September. I suppose in general I could use more things that make good cut flowers.

What is strawberry Ribena?
I like anelsons cutting flower suggestion, that one really does have a long bloom time, mid Spring thru first frost if kept deadheaded. and its color is about right, too. Coreopsis ‘Creme Brulee’ might also be a good one to consider.
:)
Achillea (Yarrow) – ‘Anthea’ xhybrida has the right color as well, plus silvery-grey, ferny foliage, and is drought tolerant. Long blooming if kept deadheaded. (Bloom Color: Soft Yellow)
Digitalis grandiflora also might fit the bill. It’s got a rather long bloom time for a Digitalis.
There are some pale primrose yellow hued Zinnias that would work, usually found in a pastel zinnia mix, but sometimes u can find just a pale yellow zinnia in bloom at a garden center.
Same with Nicotianas, I’m sure Ive seen at least one fragrant Nicotiana in this shade of yellow, but it’s usually in a pastel mix.

Strawberry Ribena is a juice drink (you add a bit of it to water) and I swear it is the closest thing to tasting like actual fresh strawberries short of actual fresh strawberries.
I used to enjoy tickseed that grew as a wildflower in my old garden, but it didn’t really occur to me to look at it as a cutting flower..I will definitely do so now. I love zinnias (alot of bang for your buck when it comes to bloom time.) Time to seed shop!

You might find this link useful, as it suggests plants for a cutting garden:

Maybe strawberry Ribena is only a UK drink, but I think theres a UK import store in Honolulu. if so, I’ll keep an eye out for that next time i go downtown. Sounds heavenly!
