The entire area will be mulched with assorted marigolds and bricks to line the paths. Individual beds will feature certain kinds of plants and explain their role in the pollinator garden, as well as displays with general information regarding pollinators and their plants.
There is a hive near Lake Nally with native honeybees, and a number of carpenter and mason bees appear each Spring. Numerous swallowtail and longwing species, in addition to monarch and gulf fritillary butterflies flit about from March through November. Other pollinators also make use of the jungle: various beetles, wasps, hummingbirds, moths and flies are seen frequently.
The areas closest the house will feature various lilies (Gloriosa and Sansevieria exist). Other plants in the areas include two Plumeria, a Banana Magnolia, 3 Queen Palms, a Camellia, Night-blooming Jasmine and Turk’s Turban.
Moving away from the house will feature areas devoted to Plumbago, Gaillardia, culinary and medicinal herbs, sunflowers, Gloriosas, Crape Myrtles, and a myriad of native species.
