Whether it’s all the rain, or just a natural inclination towards our soil (I think the Centaurea is supposed to like alkaline – I need to get more things that like alkaline) these are really thriving now.
The Centaurea looks like it might be sort of finishing blooming at this point. It’s had a great run, but the blooms don’t stand up too well to all this rain.
The Violas I honestly thought were gonners last year, as they really struggled over the summer. I guess they’re just semi-ephemeral.
The tricyrtis hirta, japanese painted ferns, and gentian are other things that are doing better than I expected given their performance last year. Good for spring.
