<body>Although I've never been to a plant-related event like this (I'm so jealous that you have this opportunity!), I have promoted my knitting group at craft fairs. I've done it two ways -- by setting up a table &quot;pulling&quot; people in with signs or by handing out fliers and then talking to them directly, and also by just &quot;pushing&quot; business cards into the hands of everyone I saw.

I honestly think the pushing method works best at these kind of events, because that way you don't have to waste your time waiting for people to talk to you, and you don't have to forgo participating yourself in order to promote the group. You litterally just hand the cards to everyone as you walk around -- most people will reach out to accept them, and they one immediately ditch them the way they would ditch a flier (which is big and hard to hold while you are doing other things).</body>

<body>Hmm, you might be on to something - what about doing seeds (just a few) in those coin envelopes, and randomly pass them around?

Also, you might be surprised what's happening in your area - Google either &quot;Seedy Saturday&quot; or &quot;Seedy Sunday&quot;, or talk to a local community garden org.</body>

<body>Oh, there's local groups here that do seed/plant swaps, just nothing on the scale of seedy saturday, which sounds like so much fun!

The seeds are a genius idea. You could print out some of the &quot;Hi, I'm a package of [Blank]&quot; labels. I'd be happy to donate some seeds to you for the cause.</body>

<body>Yeah, Seedy Saturday here is pretty hectic - there are a lot of seed vendors, as well as other garden-related companies and orgs. Last year, I saw Gayla who runs YouGrowGirl.com - she had a booth and everything!

Any seed donations would be greatly appreciated :D If possible, stuff that would be fairly easy to grow, or things that grow well in containers.</body>

<body>This is a great idea! There is &quot;quite a few&quot;:http://www.seedysunday.org/category_id__9_path__0p2p.aspx in the UK around late Jan - early Feb, with the &quot;big one in Hove (near Brighton) on the 1st of Feb&quot;:http://www.seedysunday.org/page_id__4_path__0p2p.aspx. We were going to go last year, but didn't make it. But you've reminded me to take a look into getting a stall for this year :)

btw - We have some pretty moo cards and some little seed baggies that we would be happy to send to anyone who wants to distribute them - drop me a PM with your address and I'll send them out to you :)</body>

<body>What a great idea everyone. Our Seedy Saturday isn't till March, but I'm planning on going and will take some seed packages with folia swap labels.

Check with your local library too, ours has an annual seed/plant swap which would be another great place to promote the site.

One more thought ... the swap labels could easily be turned into seed package templates. I often make my own seed packages by printing templates from the internet, and I would love to use a Folia package, both for my own stash and for swapping. </body>
