<body>Getting old, humph...youth _IS_ wasted on the young.

If I can't tell the photos apart from the thumbnails, I open a second tab or window, go to flickr and find the photo I want there. That lets me find some reference photos I can count back or forwards from, and then I don't have to do the editing thing which is a PITA.

Hope that helps while you are waiting for the file name hovering fix!</body>

<body>I don't think that I am old, but I do the same thing that you do, Serendippity, and I think that I see quite well. :) It is sometimes hard to differentiate between a photo of say, basil and one of oregano in those little thumbnails. :)</body>

<body>I'm not getting old either, dammit! And my vision has actually been inexplicably improving over the last couple of years. I don't think the thumbnail difficulty is an age/vision thing. I suspect it's more of a not having a crazy huge monitor thing, but I'm not rich enough to go out and experiment with that variable.

I also have trouble differentiating thumbnails. I've taken to using picasa instead of flickr, because you can force a picture tags to reload by switching between photo albums (something which would be nice to be able to do at will, btw) instead of having to save my journal and edit it over and over. If I can't distinguish between photos from the thumbnails, I just go back into picassa in another window and add increasingly specific tags then force them to reload in myfolia by switching back and forth between albums. I eventually narrow it down and click on the photo. I find this slightly less time consuming than starting out all my thumbnails with extremely specific tags, because I can guess right most of the time. But to be honest, if I'm writing a journal and I'm trying to decide which 5 photos to use where I have more than 5 photos, I often make the decision based on which ones show up best in the thumbnails, not which might be most useful to me for journaling purposes.</body>

<body>While I did not understand what you meant by switching back and forth, I have to say that I do the same thing when it comes to picking a pic. It is which one shows up best, not necessarily the best one for the journal. :)</body>

<body>Hi guys - this one has been on the to-do list for ages! I'll see if I can push this one up the list a little - it's annoying for me too :)</body>

<body>cmagnus, about the vision thing... are you nearsighted? I've been nearsighted since 2nd grade. For ages it seemed like every couple of years my prescription would get stronger and stronger as my vision deteriorated. I remember thinking I'd be blind by age 40. Then surprise, one year my vision improved. I was so excited. The doctor said &quot; Its just because you are getting older.&quot; What a way to deflate ones excitement. Apparently, as you get older it is natural for everyone to become a bit far sighted; if you are already nearsighted that translates to actual improved vision.

Yes, I've done the multiple windows thing. I've done the forcing the tag label thing. All of these solutions stink. I can make it work but they are a pain. Especially as my photo &quot;library&quot; gets larger and larger.

Thank you NIC - this would be a happy thing to have bumped up on the priority list.

<body>Nic, can you explain how photos work? For example on picasa I have tried to duplicate my gardens and have one album for each garden. It didn't work exactly and on top of that some of my original entries are linked to my flickr account. (I switched from flickr to picasa instead of paying for a pro account). But what happens to a journal entry link to a photograph if that photo is moved from where it was originally (when I linked it) to a different album? Or if the name of album the photo is in is changed?

The reason I asked is because I didn't do a great job of anticipating need when I started out. This is my first year on Myfolia. Next spring when I start planting tomatoes I don't want to mix up photos from 2009 tomatoes!! How have people been handling this? I've considered at the end of the year moving all 2009 photos into a 2009 album. Would that break the links? (I haven't played around with this yet.)</body>

<body>Interesting question. I have not had the need to move anything yet. Only to make my family photos private. That and doctoring my photos with the Picasa photo editor are the only things that I have done aside from loading them. :) I too am new to Myfolia, and also to Picasa Web. :)</body>

<body>Technically the photos on picasa or flickr shouldn't change if there are moved about. So if you move them around in albums then they should still work fine on Folia too.

So if you 'archive' all your photos into an album everything should work here on this end just the same. Although I wouldn't rely on my word for it until you give it a quick test before hand by moving a few photos just to be sure :)</body>
