New Folia Facebook Timeline integration - need testers!

Hi all – we’ve just released a tweak to the way we post to Facebook to be more integrated with the latest timeline changes and we’d really love some Folians to help us test it out.
Essentially, Facebook now gives us a way to configure an “Action” that can be used to post into the timeline – we have applied for and just been granted the action of “planted” and “plant” for use with Folia – hurrah!
This means when you add a new planting to Folia and choose to also post to Facebook, it will appear as an activity in your timeline with your photo – as per the screenshot to the right. We still have quite a bit of work to do to make it all work nicely, but it would be great to get some Folians posting some plantings to Facebook to see if it works and iron out the issues. We can then see what other cool stuff we can do with it :)
The new post to facebook only works on the quick add box on your dashboard for this test, we will roll it out to the Add Planting page if all goes well.

Aparently this is a nearly a moot question. Those of us who were holding out are getting auto-Timelined on the 23rd of May.
@Nic- Seemed to record my new planting just fine on Facebook, btw :)

I would love to help if… I can upgrade to the new Timeline. I’ve been trying but can’t find the silly little box to click that says, “get it now.” Very frustrating! Also, this would just be on my personal page, right? Not on the cat’s page. He already shares his twitter account with me and says, “that’s enough.”

Thanks nic but something isn’t working for me. I’ve been to that page before and could never find the ‘get it now’ box to click. When I went there right now from your link, there it was! Yeah!!! But as soon as I logged in to FB, it disappeared again. I’m wondering if they’ve taken the box out as they’re switching everyone over on the 23rd as ErikinTheBakery said. Or maybe it’s just me…

Still getting used to the recent changes with Facebook, so at first i couldn’t find my post, but then i looked at Nic’s post and pic again and found my post in my “Activity” box. I might need to get my wife to check to see how it comes up on my Friends’ pages.

I ‘planted out’ a Euonymus fortunei ‘Moonshadow’ tonight and linked it to my timeline. But, I don’t see it on facebook yet. If I did something incorrectly and it can be remidied……I’ll cooperate.

@rosemarieGardener – this test is only for new plantings made through the “quick add planting box” on your dashboard page. Timeline events for milestones will still work as the usual way – it is unusual that you can’t see the post at all on your profile however: are you sure you clicked the “post to facebook?” checkbox when adding the milestone?

nic….I chose ‘Planted Out’ for my Euonymus fortunei ‘Moonshadow’ and I did not do it from my dashboard. I’ll be sowing lots of seeds in the next week so I’ll be sure to try to do it through the ‘quick add planting box’…..and let you know how it goes.
In the meantime….are you sure I deserve the ‘linked to facebook’ badge? And where,…..other than the badge, does my profile information show that I am linked to facebook.
Am I correct in observing that when I click to sow, for example, ‘radish’……folia searches and offers me every variety of radish in it’s database rather than the one variety of radish I have in my stash?

I’ve sowed many seeds in my Vegetable Garden. I am ‘defaulted’ to linking these to facebook but after checking none show up on my facebook timeline.

@alke – sorry missed your comment above, apologies but I’m not 100% clear on your question, can you explain a little more? Thanks :)
@rosemarieGardener – if you are sure you are posting from the “Add New Planting” box on your dashboard page and that the Post to Facebook is definitely checked then it looks like something is going wrong. Can you give it another try when you next get a chance and see if it is a one-off glitch? Only other thing I can think of is that you may need to refresh your Facebook linkage on your account page http://myfolia.com/account/edit?tab=connect – try unlinking and then reauthorizing Folia to make sure this is all working correctly.

OK….I’ll try this and give it a bit of time then, get back to you. I’m choosing the ‘transplant’ option; does it make a difference if I ‘sow’, ‘purchase’, ‘transplant’ or ‘establish’?

Shouldn’t matter which one you choose from this list – this just sets the start milestone for the planting. If it doesn’t work again, can you let me know which of these options you chose and I’ll investigate – thanks for your help with testing this feature :)

Facebook approved us for the “Harvesting” timeline event this week too – so this one has also been added to the Quick Add Milestone box for testing.
To test – add a Harvesting milestone and ensure the Facebook checkbox is selected. It should then post a new activity entry into your timeline something like this: “Nic harvested Basil on Folia.” with a photo (if you have posted one)
If anyone has any harvests to give this a whirl on it would be much appreciated! :) Thanks!

to be somewhat clearer – I harvested 500g Spinach Matador – as shown in my folia thread, No entry on facebook – no activity, no post.
I would appreciate some specifications and a question or two for testing – What do you need to know? It’s very difficult to just do a task and get no idea whether it’s what you needed or not…we can only guess here… -

Sorry if the original post wasn’t clear in terms of what I was after – essentially I just need to know if the new Facebook posting changes are working. Your post 8 days ago seemed to indicate that it worked correctly, so thats all I needed – thanks :)
Edit: sorry, just think I figured out that you were testing the new Harvesting one? If so, it’s the same test…if it isn’t posting and you are following all the instructions above then it looks like it might not be working.
