<body>I would like to make a couple of nominations at the least. I love houseplants, and would have a ton of them if I could. The first nominee is growing this fantastic &quot;mosaic plant&quot;:http://myfolia.com/plantings/90827-fittonia-white-anne-fittonia-albivenis. Love it!! Also HTHB's &quot;Windowsill garden&quot;:http://myfolia.com/gardens/9860-windowsill-garden is fantastic. I love his exotic plants. Very pretty. If I had to pick one, I suppose it would be the Orange and Yellow one. :)</body>

<body>I would like to nominate my own &quot;Holiday Cactus&quot;:http://myfolia.com/plantings/35943-schlumbergera-truncata-dads-thanksgiving-cactus-schlumbergera-truncata (_Schlumbergera truncata_). My dad, who died 10 years ago, bought me this as a tiny plant in 1990 when we were christmas shopping together. It is very special to me and I think it is just about one of the most beautiful plants I have ever seen. It is starting to bloom right now, and as soon as it is close to full bloom I will post another photo.</body>

<body> @ Hypo Mix- where you get your plants should not matter. It is whether or not you think yours is odd enough or pretty enough, or perhaps big enough to be in the running. :)</body>

<body>Can I nominate myself too? I am overly proud of this &quot;dragon tree&quot;:http://myfolia.com/plantings/14954-dragon-tree-dracaena-marginata which I've grown from 18 inches tall to its current size-over 5 feet tall. I am going for the &quot;biggest&quot;, as opposed to prettiest, most exotic, or most unusual!</body>

<body>@ Hypo- Oh....gotcha. Well, as you said, maybe next year!

@ janietta- That is impressive!! We had some at our rental home in Florida, or at least I think this is the same plant, and they were about 6'!! They were pretty old, and outside though. I think that this plant is awesome because you grew it in the house, in a pot, and it still got big!! I do not have especially good luck with house plants, for the most part. :D</body>

<body>I would like to nominate my Mother-in-Law's tongue (aka Snake plant). Not because it is all that unusual, although it is special to me. I have had this plant for about 20 years and it is a cutting from a plant of my grandmother's. This year I actually &quot;got it to bloom&quot;:http://myfolia.com/journals/66215-its-freaking-blooming. Not on purpose or anything, I think that it just got the right amount of sunlight and nutrients for a change.... I added to its soil some home made compost. </body>

<body>I would like to nominate one of my African Violets, specifically &lt;a href=&quot;http://myfolia.com/plantings/88190-african-violet-rose-pink-with-backside-surprise-saintpaulia&quot;&gt;Rose Pink with Backside Surprise&lt;/a&gt;. If you look at the journals, you can see what a mess this was when I got it. It was overgrown and half dead. I cut it back from both the top (2/3's of the leaves) and bottom (all the roots) and repotted the remaining neck. It bounced back really well, and is a very pretty plant. I've never grown flowers indoor before, so I'm quite pleased.</body>

<body>I actually had one similar to that one Katxena. They are pretty!! I had a pale purple, dark purple, and one pink one. They were on sale at Walmart, and were not in bloom when I got them, so they were a surprise for me too. :) Aren't they beautiful!!</body>

<body>I found out when I was entering all my houseplants onto Myfolia; I has looked it up to find out if there was a more official name than MIL. The only thing I did differently this year is add some &quot;homegrown&quot; compost to the pot. Not much because the thing is rootbound (and they like it that way). I guess I hit the missing nutrient cause it is just getting basic indoor indirect sunlight. </body>
