<body>We may this year as the dehydrator that we have is borrowed. Do you just do it on a low temp in the oven? My oven is gas, and hovers just below 100 degrees, even when it is off. Is that warm enough to dehydrate? I will have several kinds of basil, oregano, marjoram, thyme, sage, and tarragon.</body>

    <body>Check out this website: http://www.pickyourown.org//dryingfoods.htm

I use it for all kinds of preserving info (canning, freezing, drying). It's very helpful!

I can't remember where I got the instructions (I dried some basil last year), but I think it was like warm up the oven (not sure what temperature - !'m sure googling will provide that!), and then turn it off, and put in the herbs. Let it do it's thing overnight. Pretty simple overall.</body>

<body>We dry morel mushrooms every spring, but we don't use any fancy equipment, we just lay them out on paper and pack them in jars when they're good and dry (2-3 days).

We also have succesfully dried tomatoes, using both a dehydrator (low heat for a long time) and an oven with the temp set to 100 and the door ajar (over night).</body>

<body>I've got a dehydrator and have used it for fruits, a friend of mine has heaps of fruit trees so get heaps of fruit each year from her. Haven't tried drying herbs yet, have just re started my herb garden again so will give it ago soon enough. I haven't tired drying in the oven yet as I have the dehydrator. It works well for me as I dry stuff out overnight with it. </body>
