<body>We will definitely be working on a couple of these sort of external widgets when we move out of private beta (in the meantime, it would be great to know from everyone what sort of folia data you'd eventually like to see displayed in a widget - latest planting / plantings, latest harvests...)</body>

<body>It's interesting because I guess you'd want to be able to tag 'add to my blog feed' or something because some of the stuff we'd add here wouldn't make any sense at all if we were just auto-feeding a 'latest activity' stream to a blog widget...

Cos whereas 'my first tomato flowers!' would make a great little announcement in the 'MyFolia' sidebar of my blog, I'm not so sure that 'no root development...' (for my beetroots, for instance) would make any sense at all.

So yes, I'd absolutely LOVE the ability to push some content from here to my blog (or website or whatever external web presence), but I think it should be user-controlled with at least a check-box.

And what content? I think if we make a journal entry and mark it as 'feed to blog' it should display in a small, standard-sized box with a thumbnail picture, the MyFolia journal heading, and the first line or few words of text. And clicking on that would bring up the full text of that particular journal entry, with full linkage, permissions allowing, to the rest of the gardening journals associated with that. Does that make sense to people?

You could give people the option to choose from 3 box-sizes and perhaps also 3 colour-schemes to fit with people's blogs, so that the feed-code they embedded was at least a bit customisable, but you don't actually have to keep track of a never-ending rainbow of HTML versions. Give it a standard heading like &quot;Recently In My Garden...&quot;, but make that editable by people who feel like drilling down into their HTML.

I personally use Blogger, and you obviously have a few WordPress users here. Would be good to do a poll of who uses what blog software so you could prioritise the most popular blogging platforms for this.</body>

<body>I'm going to fire this topic up again as it's something I'm starting to look at again. I know there's a few other posts floating around - but this one has the best heading to suit my purpose.

We're thinking of building a trial widget. The plan is to have a widget you can drop this onto your blog site and it will point back to your gardener page and display your profile pic, folia name, and how many gardens, plants and journals you currently have. Of course, since we're still a &quot;log in required&quot; site people who click on the widget (to see more) will have to sign up. And the widget will update as you add gardens/plants/journals to folia (as a widget should :))

And going back to our Aussie roots - it's has been officially named &quot;Widgety Grub&quot;:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchetty_grub. Well, Nic named it that - so that's official enough for me.

So as glittertrash suggested it would be good to get some numbers on the blog users here that are interested and to know what blog software/sites you use so I can get a feel for what to code for.</body>

    <body>Well here's my vote for wordpress.org
I'm quite excited by this possibility. At the moment I would be happy to see a list/photos of recently planted/harvested stuff in my sidebar. If folk had to sign in to see it then all the better, I think everyone ought to be using this site if they are interested in keeping track of their gardening life.
You've made excellent progress since I last logged in so I have complete faith in you developing something far better than I could even hope for - Thanks!</body>

<body>I recently added the Random Plantings widget to my blog (blogger account) and it's great...except that it seems to cut off the last bit of wording down at the bottom. Plus it still says &quot;get &amp; share&quot; which I thought should have disappeared when I added it. Is this the way it is supposed to look?</body>

<body>Hi MissK - we are using a third party widget creator so unfortunately we are a little limited in how we can tweak its settings (the plan is to eventually create our own custom widgets, but it's a bit of a way down the to-do list as the sheer amount of variations in blogging software makes it a huge task)

However - good news is that it looks like the software for configuring the widget has greatly improved since I last looked at it, so I've changed some settings to fix the issues with the widget size and make the &quot;get &amp; share&quot; tab a bit less noticeable. It should hopefully look much better now :)

<body>I just went to add a widget of my random plantings to my sidebar of my blog, but the width of the smallest version is still just a bit too wide.

Is there any way to have a version that is even a bit more narrow? Like the width of the &quot;latest harvests&quot; widget? 160 pixels wide or narrower.</body>

<body>Yeah, I've had a redo of the widgets on my list for a while now - I'll see if I can factor in some more widgety goodness in an upcoming release (if anyone wants to suggest some other widgets they want to see then feel free to &quot;add to an existing topic&quot;:http://myfolia.com/groups/2/search?query=widget)</body>
