The result is a slightly sweet-tart snack that is waaay healthier than chips (a.k.a. Dh loves apple butter, so I made two quarts of apple butter, one in the crockpot, and one in the oven. It's almost as easy as making applesauce, and SO much tastier. Plus your kitchen smells like apples all day, and those apple scented candles have NOTHING on the REAL scent of spiced apples cooking in your kitchen! :) I only have two pears I need to figure out what to do with, as well as two apples that need to get eaten. I was going to make a pear/apple pie. I got a big reaction to that at a party last night- "you can do that?" to, "What a great idea!"
