Liming Lawn

So I should have done this last Fall. But it’s now or next November.
I only want to apply Dolomite Lime to those grassy bits I still have left. But I’m unclear what the application rate should be (please don’t tell me to get the soil under the “grass” tested!). I have read everything from 10lbs to 50lbs per 1,000 square feet.
My inkling is to go with the lower number (50lbs seems nuts!) – unless I’m advised otherwise….
