Rejuvenation of this Group
-
Since the original caretaker for this group has disappeared, I’ve volunteered to take over as Caretaker and try to rejuvenate the group.
First, I’ve renamed it from ‘Garden Visits’ to ‘A Garden worth visiting’ to clarify the subject a little better.
Next, I’m going to invite all members of Folia to add their own favourite public gardens to the group, post photos, a link to the garden website and tell us why it’s your favourite and what you particularly like about it.
Just a quick note – please put the country/location of the Garden in the title of your post.
Finally, I’m going to cross my fingers and hope that this Group encourages Folia members to share and enjoy special gardens around the world :)

Excellent idea! Can we post photos here? or just links? We used to be able to do those photo slurper things, but that link isn’t here anymore. Never noticed when it was gone.

Hi Snelrish,
My suggestion is that you write your own journal about your chosen garden but then put a post here, linking to your journal and a brief ‘taster’ of what your journal is about. You can post whatever you want on your journal, of course, including lots of photos :)
At least that way a member’s garden journal can gather thumbs up and comments whereas a detailed post about a garden in this group isn’t going to do either.
Does that sound reasonable?

Sounds fine! I’ll try to get a chance to post some journals about the gardens and plants I have seen on my trips to Ireland. I have been meaning to do that and just have never gotten to it.

Cordoba, Spain
From Seville we went to Cordoba, the original capital of Islamic Spain, here we saw the peaceful patio planted with orange trees of the stunning Mezquita, the Islamic mosque and Catholic cathedral.
We spent a showery afternoon in the gardens of the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, which is a mid-20th century garden in the remains of a much older one, and near Cordoba we visited the archaeological gardens of the Madinat al-Zahra.
Two gardens we missed in Cordoba were the Palacio de Viana and the botanical gardens, another time, perhaps!Patio de los naranjos – 2 journals, Dec 2
Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos – 9 journals, Dec 8, 11-13
Madinat al-Zahra – 3 journals, Jan 3, 6, 7I am currently wandering through the gardens of the Alhambra, Granada starting on January 14 and will post these when I have finished.
