What do I do with plants I have removed from my garden?

If you’ve harvested or otherwise removed a plant from your garden, you can archive this planting for future reference. To do this, click on the “remove” link beside your planting – this should take you to a page to enter the removal date and reason for the removal.

Your planting will not be deleted and will still appear thoughout the site, as well as on your plantings page. You will also still be able to add journal entries and edit the plant’s details.

Note: this functionality is very basic at the moment, so any suggestions for improvement are most welcome!

This is good – a good way to track what has to go back in the garden next Spring – please can we have a ‘storage’ option as well as ‘harvested’ for bulbs and corms and frost tender plants that have to move indoors? Not sure storage is the right word…

For your plants already in your garden that you want to move inside for the winter, you can create an “Indoors” garden and move your plantings temporarily into that garden. All of your information for that planting (like journals, faves etc.) will move with it at the same time. When you are ready to move it back outside, you can then just move the planting back to your normal garden – easy!

To move a planting, go to your planting page. On the right hand side bar next to your garden picture there should be a link called “Move planting”. This will take you to a page that will let you choose the garden to move the planting to.

As for bulbs (that haven’t been planted yet), we will be adding some interesting functionality in the near future to allow you to list and track these separately to your plantings…we will let you know more about this in the weeks to come :)
