The definition of “weed” is flexible. It depends on what one likes and wants in one’s garden. Some weeds are welcome volunteers. Others inspire hate because of how successful they are in the Survival of the Fittest. I want to learn to identify the weeds as much as the plants I like and want. I figure that if I know what a weed’s native habitat is, how it propagates itself, its lifecycle, I’ll be better prepared for battle. Another thing is that in a neighborhood as subURBAN as mine as, there are blocks where weeds are the only green you’ll see. Better make the most of them.
