This was one of the first sections I started to work on. Shifted the layer of compacted wood chips to come across compacted dust and under that 2 layers pf plastic and under that clay that was more like rock. I don’t think any of the ‘garden beds’ here had ever been planted. The ground would best be described as dead. But lots of digging and cow manure and pea straw mulching later it is getting there.
