Our current garden is far too small for the plants we have and the numbers of people we feed. We are in dire need of expansion. One minor issue before we can begin, we must find a way to fence out the goats, deer, and other creatures.
Currently we have enough plants to cover an acre. There is simply no space and all the plants are crowded. We have plenty of seed and would like to begin saving seed.
We hope to convert the current garden to an herb/flower reflecting/socializing area. The area would also be used to propagate new plants, experiment/test plants.
I am ALWAYS open to suggestions, ideas, advice, info, thoughts, and I absolutely love to brainstorm. I’m willing to share seeds, plants, etc.
Ah, I’m unsure about my zone. Locals have given me varying zones. Currently I’ll use 6b until someone enlightens me.

What would you think of cutting out somemore windows, and replacing the chicken wire with plexiglass? That would help to keep the weather out and it would not be as expensive as regular glass!! You can also take the plastic stuff that people use to cover their windows with for extra insulation in winter and use wood staples to attach them if you don’t have much wind to knock them off with.
Welcome to folia! I would love to see more pics of what you are growing!! I used to grow the Greek Oregano when we lived in Rapid City. I buy my seed from Menard’s and Walmart, so I sort of take what I can get, and there was not any of the greek oregano.
I now live in Nebraska on a 2 acre lot, at least for now, and we have a pretty decent sized veggie garden, an herb garden, and several small flower beds.

I hadn’t thought of plexiglass but will check into it. I’ll hunt up some photos of the building. I was given some glass…about 3′ × 5′ or so. It’s old fashioned glass and I’m a bit concerned to use it on much of anything. It’s the type that can really hurt a person (or animal). The plastic as insulation is an awesome idea. Thank you for the suggestions.
I can send some Greek Oregano but you’ll need to tell me what time of year. I suspect it would be stable in the mail…nothing seems to bother it…except moisture. Seems to prefer very dry conditions. I recently harvested, so it’s just beginning to leaf out again. It looks best in spring.
When we were looking for places, we found one in Nebraska and seriously considered it.
Thank you for the suggestions.

You’re very welcome!! Good luck with your project. I would like some, but I have an aquaintence here that could tell me better when to ship it. I will ask her, and then get back to you. she and I have done a bit of swapping. :)
