I can’t take much credit for this at all. The previous owners did the pond, the trellis, the flagstones and creeping thyme, and a few other things. The photo is from late summer 2007, so it’s not up to date, but it doesn’t look tremendously different either.
There wasn’t a whole lot under the trellises except for the enormous miscanthus, and I’ve added some hostas, mums, and other stuff there, as well as the mulch. I think it had been mulched in the past, but it was virtually all gone by the time we moved in.
The pond is currently inhabited by about 80 koi and goldfish, a shifting number of crawdads, and a large frog that might be a bullfrog. I haven’t ever gotten a really close look at him/her, because he jumps in whenever I come too near.
