This was to be the “last” garden fit into the back yard. It spans the back of the house, and is a delicious mix of manure, compost and fluffy, light topsoil. It doesn’t get much sun, but I’ve had great luck with plants in this garden…especially tall things that need staking – shelter from the wind.
This is a garden that I’ve tried to pack in a lot of hollyhocks to act as host plants for the caterpillars. By the middle of July, the leaves on the hollyhocks are ravaged and very little is left of them – which is exactly what I’m looking for.
