I decided to start a Worm composting bin in April 2009.
It is an indoor bin, or rather series of bins, that I made myself from rubbermaid-type bins.
I started with one lb. of red wrigglers, Eisenia Foetida, and my guru is Bentley from Red Worm Composting .
I have finished two harvests thus far, and have managed to avoid major pest infestations, and any major anaerobic decay (which not only stinks, but kills the worms); so, I suppose I am off to a good start— albeit a slow one. They are multiplying like crazy though! Juveniles and cocoons all over the place, and I believe I need to start increasing the food supply. Cool.
And yes, my darling husband not only does not object, but he happily assisted me to handsort castings today!
