ascorbic's Bee House Apiary garden

Garden Type: Terrace | Sun: Dappled Sun | Soil: Combination I'm Organic!

The top terrace of our very steep garden is reserved for our beehives. We have two hives that we got in June. As the garden is so steep, this terrace is a good ten metres above the roof of our house. It gets good sun, but there are trees around it so it is in shade some of the time.

Until we got here it was totally overgrown and had been basically invaded by the surrounding woodland. I’ve strimmed much of it to the ground and lopped off some of the invading branches, which is all I can do for now.

There is a lovely little summerhouse on the terrace, which we are using to store bee equipment.

Absolutely charming! We’re looking for land in the country now and this makes me even more anxious to find some.
