We started this garden this year due to the success of last years planter box. 2 years ago we had a tree that was on it’s last leg removed, and the stump ground, leaving a pile of wood chips in the middle of the yard. 2 years later the wood chips finally composted enough to use them as a material to make a raised bed out of.
It’s a decent size, measuring in at about 25′ × 6′. This year we are just hoping to cultivate it enough to grow some veggies and fruits in it, and at the end of this year we’ll look at making it a permanent structure by putting some railroad ties or brick as a barrier.
So far I’ve tilled under about 1/3 of the garden to plant in. We’ve planted blackberries, strawberries and blueberries so far. Some seedling arugula is waiting to be planted and a few other veggies that i’m not so sure are going to germinate. We shall just have to wait and see!
