    *@$%^ Mosquitos! 1 6 Backyard garden
So, clearly it is bug time again. I always face a dilema with the mosquitos, as I’m allergic to their bites (get nasty quarter size, hot welts and if I get too many, a fever and throw up) but I try to be organic. I’ve tried almost EVERY mosquito product on the market. None of the s...

Rescue Hosta 'Diamond Tiara' Potting Up and Backyard garden
I had to dig up both my ‘Diamond Tiara’ plants as both were dwindling down to almost nothing, due to too much root competition. The planting under the tree thing is just not working for me and unfortunately, my raising holding bed seems invaded by roots as well. When I dug the hosta...

Everything leafing out and weeds EVERYWHERE Backyard garden
Oh my word, a few rainy weeks and the weeds have taken over the back yard. The “lawn” is basically just weeds. The kids down the street will mow on Sunday and hopefully it will at least look decent. Don’t know what I’m going to do about the grass situation and I’m...

blooms still opening Hydrangea 'Limelight' Blooming and Backyard garden
Limelight’s blooms are still in the process of opening. I did notice today that they are starting to turn white. Since it is in so much sun, I didn’t think that the blooms would stay green for too long, but they are still a kind of greenish-white and very pretty.

First bloom of the year Zinnia 'Peppermint Stick' Blooming and Backyard garden
It is here, the first zinnia bloom of the year! It is a super pretty pink and white bloom. There are several others that are partially open, so I should be seeing and photographing more soon.

Today's bloom photo Hydrangea 'Penny Mac' Blooming and Backyard garden
Penny is in her prettiest, bluest phase right now, so I can’t help near daily photos. The rain we got did bend her stem down a bit, but it has rebounded. This bloom just keeping getting prettier!
