Garden Type: Backyard | Sun: Partial Sun | Soil: Combination I'm Organic!

Our back yard is a mish-mash – we have traditional, high-water elements like turf, citrus, roses and palm trees, but also a variety of drought-tolerant trees, grasses and shrubs on the perimeters. Since my goal is to do more xeriscaping, I’m going to be introducing more low-water use plants to the place, but I’m going to try to choose varieties that have more verdant, flowery elements so that they don’t clash too much with the existing mature plants. Near-term plans include a butterfly garden, a wildflower patch, some raised vegetable beds, and the addition of walking paths using 1/4" minus stabilized decomp. granite (all we have out there now is 3/4" plus DG, which is hard on the feet).
