A sunny hillside on the southern side of our house and courtyard. There is some terracing with landscape ties. I neglected this space for some time and allowed it to get over-run with autumn blooming jasmine and invasive weeds, including poison ivy. Most of it is cleared out now, but there is still lots to be done, including improving the clay soil. The daffodils are in bloom and the daylilies are coming in strong. Purple coneflower does well here. At the top of the hill, there is a planter beneath a lattice trellis that needs something special – although I am tempted to grow pole beans in it because it is the most protected spot from the many local critters such as deer, groundhog, raccoon, opossum and skunk. This season, will be interplanting veggies among the flowers for the first time. (Photo shows the “cottage” garden and the “hillside” garden, and just one corner of the “kitchen” garden.)

Oh, your property is so gorgeous, I can’t stand it! That space front (well, side) and middle, behind the gate (I can’t find the word), do you have photos have that? I love those sorts of liminal spaces, which are neither indoors nor out.

Aww, Punkin, thank you! We sure do feel fortunate to have such a well situated spot. You have a good eye for noticing that we have a small garden space beyond that arched gate. Our courtyard is enclosed by the pump house, summer kitchen and the house – with a wall of lattice screening to provide privacy. It’s not much to look at, at the moment, but I’ll post some photos when the weather is more conducive to it. Thanks again for looking and commenting!
