Day 0
I’m putting up a hanging planter that will hold several types of herbs. My choices so far are basil, oregano, parsley and cilantro. I’m considering adding one or two cherry tomato plants to emerge from the holes in the bottom a la Topsy Turvy planter.
I’ve just started the seeds. I hope I get a good germination rate. I’ll offer to swap the extra seedlings when thinning time comes because I hate waste.
My father-in-law (from now on referred to as FiL) says he can get mushroom compost very cheaply. My mother-in-law (aka MiL) is afraid he’ll spill it in the trunk and stink up the car. Knowing him, I can’t say I blame her, but I drool at the thought of herbs and vegetables grown in that medium…
