You should think of photo-documenting the process and posting it. Folia people would love to try this. I have two Bing and one Black Cherry tree. The deer eat the black cherry tree every year, so nothing gets cross pollinated. Grafting Black Cherry branches to the top of my Bing’s (out of reach) could solve my problems.

Hey Hotwired, sorry I didn’t see your comment until now…
The photo-documentation would be a good idea. I can’t remember if I ever blogged the steps… but you can see some of the process in these photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joeysplanting/tags/grafting/
Maybe I’ll show how I graft, step-by-step, this year and post it here and on my blog.
Your idea about grafting the Black Cherry to the Bing is an excellent idea… and something I was trying to do with our Bing Cherry which doesn’t bare fruit. I now have 2, maybe 3, other Cherries grafted onto our Bing, so I hope that this year, they will cross pollinate and we’ll have fruits!!! (since we don’t have room to plant another Cherry tree). Is Black Cherry a pollinator of Bing? I will make sure to look for that during the next scion exchange.
