The container garden is my main garden.
I started container gardening in 2007 when I knew we’d be moving at some point over the summer, but I wanted a garden anyway. Have garden will travel! It was such a success, every year it expands a little more. Growing in containers is a bit expensive, but it makes sense for us since we rent. And while its a bit large to move in the middle of the season (the tomatoes and cucumbers get staked into the ground), its still portable!
Plans for 2009:
Tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, lettuce, spinach, peas, bush beans, soybeans, dry beans, ground cherry, swiss chard, kale, rosemary, thyme, oregano, parsley, sage, pineapple sage, basil, lavender, chammomile and marigolds.
I’m trying to swing it this year without buying new containers, but unless I missed a few while counting last year, I’m gonna need at least two more for the dry beans and the second planting of cucumbers…
