This is another frontyard garden created because of my aversion to lawns. This strip of grass between my house and my neighbor’s is half mine and half theirs. They are wonderful people. My weedy half was spoiling the beauty of their lush, green side. They don’t use any chemicals and she hand pulls all of her weeds, I admire them. I don’t use chemicals and manually pull weeds but my lawn is now basically clover, plantain, dandelions and other types of unknown invasive weeds.
In the spring of 2007 my dad came to visit and, as he usually does, brought me plants from his garden. I had requested daylilies and he brought me eight. He never labels or remembers exactly what he plants unless it is a tree or bush so these would all be a nice surprise when they bloomed. We decided they would be perfect to replace the grass on my side of the strip. No more mowing and they look really nice next to my neighbor’s green healthy grass.
