SneIrish's Cedar Tree garden

Garden Type: Shade | Sun: Full Shade | Soil: Combination I'm Organic!

This is a recently started garden in the summer of 2008. I had a few plants that I wanted that needed mostly shade, so I decided that under my (favorite) Cedar Tree was a fine place. All the plants here have done surprisingly quite well, including the Pulmonaria that Lucy ate all the leaves off right after it was planted! It’s a pleasant complement to the BBB garden nearby.

2009 Update – by the end of this summer, this shade garden is transforming into a lovely foliage plant garden. Rather by orchestrated accident than by design, there are complementing purples, greens and silvers living in perfect harmony. The flowers of the various plants bloom successively, giving bright spots of color at various times throughout the season. I’m really liking this and will probably expand a bit in 2010. I have also started planting some woodland plants behind the tree – which gets almost no sun and tends to be a bit dry.
