SneIrish's Gnomeville garden

Garden Type: Frontyard | Sun: Partial Sun | Soil: Combination I'm Organic!

This is the garden area to the left (south) side of the front walk. When we moved here in 1987 it was originally a narrow area foundation planting with just shrubs and some Irises. Over the years I added more plants, and in April 2008 we decided I would significantly expand the area. It now starts at the front where the walk meets the driveway and goes to the fence at the corner of the house, making a large triangular area with a somewhat curved border. The soil at the back of the garden, under the overhang of the house, is very dry since the house prevents it from getting much rain. I have to be careful what I plant back there, and mostly it is trial and error. I try to make sure it is watered well during the summer months.

With my fascination with folklore, over the years I have been collecting garden statues of gnomes, elfs, etc. I decided to put them all together in this area – so the name Gnomeville.
