it is finally time that I did something better with the dark corner of the backyard. It is almost always in shade so I struggled to work out what to do but since the lilly i have in a pot there seems to be going alright, I thought I might try to expand it a little.
So, work began – first move the water bin & the Lilly out of the way and line the wall with some black plastic to keep the water out. Next some bricks (from freecycle ) and a bit of fiddling around to get them level. If you look really closely you will notice some gaps in the bricks – this is in the hope that I get some better drainage out of the whole affair as generally my soil doesn’t drain so well.
Then in with a huge amount of compost, planting mix, worm castings and dirt and the little garden was starting to take shape. The last thing was to plant out the Lilly (oh and I as I was at the nursery grabbing the planting mix and such, I grabbed two dead nettles for the front edge)
what do you think? not bad for a few hours work?
