SneIrish's Corner garden

Garden Type: Cottage | Sun: Full Sun | Soil: Clay I'm Organic!

The Corner Garden defines part of the boundary between our yard and our neighbors to the north, and runs from the Arbor Gateway along the outside of our backyard fence in that area. It is not a large garden, with about a ten foot long four foot wide stretch in front and another sixteen foot long two foot wide length around the corner along the side. This has traditionally been the area where I plant my annual Sunflowers and Zinnias. It is a difficult area to plant because the soil above the clay cap is not deep, maybe about two to three feet, and the area has a downhill pitch to the corner. The area around the corner gets flooded when we have heavy rains in the winter and spring, and can be slow to drain. I have lost many plants here to drowning. As I replace plants, I try to put in ones that are wet-tolerant.

It really does look great though, with the white fence and the vibrant colors throughout the season.
