First Frost 2 2 Container garden
8.45pm Bright, sunny, windy and distinctly chilly, barely 3C at 10.30 am – need to dig out mitts and touque. The little dahlias and the big white all touched by frost, the weather station said it got down to -1.6C. Got home at 5.00 and by 6.30, I had dug up all the begonias, including the ...

The end of Summer - snow on the peaks 4 2 Container garden and Clematis 'Golden Tiara'
5.43 pm As I went out of my garden this morning on my way to the studio, I thought how very nice it would be to spend the day or at least a part of it in the garden. The pressure is on to produce work for the Art in the Park exhibition, I need to have a piece to be photographed by this Tuesday fo...

I thought the branches were completely dead but when I snipped one it had a live core. It is now leafing from the bottom but I suspect it wou...

Up from the basement... 2 Container garden
Such a clear blue sky today, the sun appearing from behind Mt McKenzie’s higher slopes at 8.30, and almost rising clear of the tall trees opposite an hour or so later. The days are suddenly lengthening markedly and the sun is much stronger. Yesterday I could hardly raise a cheer over crocus...

Moved Clematis carmanaii Joe Transplanted and Container garden
Moved this yesterday into the Camellia’s pot in the hope that it will like it better. It has only bloomed once and has survived much lower temperatures than advised. I think it would be the perfect companion plant for the Camellia.
