rainymountain's 9. Drive garden

Garden Type: Flower | Sun: Full Sun | Soil: Combination I'm Organic!

This garden runs south-north roughly along the fence separating it from the parking area to the west.
After the Centre bed, it is one of the sunniest, getting sun from early morning to mid afternoon at mid-summer. The bed is 17’ long x 5’ wide, roughly E shaped with two insets 3’long x 2.5’ deep. The insets are just below path level (at the original level) and are unimproved pebble-sand mixture planted with thymes and other shallow-rooted or rock-garden plants.
The main bed was trenched to 3’ and the stream bed mix of pebbles, rocks and sand was taken out (much of it became path); imported soil was added over the sand base to make a slightly raised bed. It has had manure and compost added at least once a year. The earth tends to compact and grow moss during the summer.
