So this is the big one for us. Just under 1/2 an acre and the ground is terrible. It’s like concrete with zero nutritional value. We had the soil tested and the sales person from Lancaster Agriculture actually asked me if this site was from a spot that someone was going to build on because there was zero life in the soil almost no calcium and so on and so on. Well, a new plow, a rented 48" tiller and 2500 pounds of soil amendment later things are beginning to look up. First crop: Oats. Hopefully they will take and winterkill to provide some biomass for the summer crops. The goal for this is to be a no-till organic garden with veggies, herbs and flowers all providing symbiotic value to each other. Easier said than done!
