We bought this house 2 years ago and the backyard was sectioned off into two parts. The back backyard had 2 raised beds but were looking kind of shabby. Both beds were full of weeds. One bed was worse off than the other and was full of old, dead, potted plants, dead baby palm tree, bricks, yes I said bricks, part of a heavy chain and all kinds of other crap it looks like they said “just throw it in the raised bed”. My plan was always to fix these beds up and plant a garden. I fixed up one bed, took out all the old soil and replaced it with new soil and compost. Now I’m slowing but surely cleaning out the other bed and realizing the wood itself is in pretty bad shape and should be replaced as well. That will be next years project. There is one more raised bed in the main backyard in which I planned on planting an herb garden but have found it doesn’t get a lot of sun so I plan on just taking it out. Depending on the shape the wood is in maybe I can use it as replacements for the bed in the very back that’s in bad shape.
Gardening is new to me but I enjoy it and I’m constantly learning and loving every minute of it.
