Stars Garden is located in Chicago’s 50th ward on the site of an old motel. Currently containing 125 4×8ft raised beds, there is room for another 100! Before the site was leveled and then covered with 12" of wood chips, every time it rained “Lake Lettuce” would form, attracting ducks and waterbirds, but unfortunately also mosquitos and a horrible smell. The garden completely solved this runoff problem. Where there was blight, there is now a beautiful community of gardeners.

The plantings listed here are from 8 “Grow2Give” beds. All produce is donated to Inspiration Kitchens.

The Peterson Garden Project is a volunteer organization committed to teaching people to grow their own food. We’re based in Chicago, Illinois, where we build community vegetable gardens and stronger communities, too. We are a 501 © 3 non-profit organization.
