The bails are now about 2-3 inches tall and some of the leaves look kind of old. Cut off some of them today and will combine it w/ the chives from my CSA to make a pesto sauce!

Week 3 gardeing summary - strawberries and weeds Smurfie's Square Foot garden
Wow, time goes slowly when you’re tracking your garden by week. The garden is doing pretty well. We had a week of very sunny and warm weather and the strawberries and lettuce did so well that we could harvest them. I need to plant more strawberries next year! Other than that, all the othe...

Yummy strawberries! Strawberry Harvesting and Smurfie's Square Foot garden
I just couldn’t wait any longer. Looked up how to harvest strawberry last night and took home 3 of them today by cutting the stem w/ a scissor. You’re supposed to harvest when the strawberry is all ripe and firm. If it’s soft then it’s overripe. I didn’t check one...

Out of 5 plants, 2 of them are doing really well. One has 3 red berries and the other has 1. The rest are starting to fruit as well! Now I just have to figure out when I can actually pick the berries. Every day I get so tempted to pick them but everyday I tell myself I should wait a bit longe...
