All of my tomato plants are from seeds from tomatoes that fell and were left last year. I had them in 4 planters, and this year as it started to warm up, I saw lots of little tomato plants popping up in the planters. I selected the healthiest looking plants to cultivate, and turned the rest under. I transplanted some to a second, ground-based location. In all of the locations, I am using MiracleGro® soil and only water captured from an air conditioner condensate line, or captured rainfall. I have recycled the dried ornamental grasses we had from last year (which are like small bamboo sticks) to make stakes and a trellis to support my plants. I have also employed 2 metal cages from some of the earlier growth. The results have pleasantly surprised me.
