Our first attempt at a Three Sisters-type garden. It’s a patch about 6’ – 9’, just north of the sunflower house. There is a large stump on the west side of it. DD wanted to grow corn and pumpkins, so I told her about this method, and we decided we’d try it. We started with 2 mounds, and planted 3 sets of corn seeds, along with peas seeds, on the larger section, and two on the smaller. Two weeks later we added two more sets of (both types of) seeds in each mound. Meanwhile, I started pumpkin seeds in peat pots, and put them out when the original corn plantings were about 8 inches high. The pumpkins are along the chain-link fence (and the stump), in an attempt to discourage the raccoons from getting the corn.
In the patch, we also planted 2 left-over eggplant transplants and two left-over cucumber plants. The eggplants are on the southern edge, and the cucumbers are on the north-east corner.
