So I sat down today and did some research to identify what exactly is in my Mesclun mix, since it can vary so much from seed packet to seed packet. It seems I have these:
Purple Mustard Green
Chicory
Mizuna
Mustard Green
and Sorrel (I have sorrel!)
They are surely delicious and a perfect compleme...

I never knew that each seed has it’s own slower. It’s quite amazing to me… that the map to do this all over again, and again, is contained within each of these seeds.

Yum! Got the first of the watermelons yesterday. Brought it right in the house and cut it straight away. The kids, my own and neighbors, dug right in! It’s a good size… just enough to satisfy, none left over to sticky up the frig.

The mammoth sunflowers are flowering and oh so lovely. It amazes me how long they take to open and stretch out. They are a bee’s delight with all of the pollen. The spiders seems to have figured out they are a good place to find lunch.

The mesclun mix, despite the work of the caterpillars, is really filling in and giving me daily goodness for the table. It’s actually a pretty short row, but they really have produced. I just love the look of all the different leaves and the bite that they add to the salads these days.

The pea plants have grown to 2 feet tall and are branching quite a lot. I should start seeing some blooms soon. (crosses fingers)
