When we first moved here in 1993 we inherited wild peacocks, pretty birds but destructive of vege patches. So my husband made me a peacock proof enclosure. Our soil is rocks surrounded by clay with very little topsoil. So planting was difficult as you couldn’t fork over the plot. My enthusiasm and time ebbed and flowed and over the years many rocks were removed. Unfortunately I hurt my back in 2008 and I was left with asking my husband, an already busy person to do my vege patch. So I decided to convert this garden to no dig principles. Yeah!!! My enthusiasm has returned and production increased. My soil is so black friable and full of worms. Main problem is the original placement of the garden is on the south side of a hill and under some trees, so no full sun.
