This is_ not_ my first time with tomatoes, but it is my first time with growing a variety of Heirloom and or OP types. I got started with Trudi, creator of wintersown.org and moderator of the Gardenweb Wintersow Forum who generously offered a free Pick 6 Open Pollinated Tomato package on the forum last fall. I was thrilled and took up the offer and here I am happy so far with the results!
I used the wintersow method of starting all these seeds in March. Seedlings in the 2-3 true-leaf stage were planted into the garden ( few into 5 gallon containers) on May 17th. As of today July 14th all plants are setting fruit except the Black Cherry which was re-started on May 15th with germination by May 25 and planted shortly thereafter; flowers are just beginning, but I have no doubts it will catch up quickly! I hear it is a very vigorous producer and I’m prepared!
