Once upon a time, in a yard . . . uh, right out front, actually . . . one of my upstairs neighbors came home from a camping trip and plunked all his gear down on the edge of the grass. A month or so later, when he got around to moving it, there was a big patch of dead grass.
I thought “Hmmmmm. I could plant a rose bush there!” And so it all began.
I’ve added a little bit to that original area every season since. The garden extends all the way along two edges of my yard, with a tiny new patch on the third edge and a vegetable patch bordering on the fourth, plus containers all over my patio and some planters bolted to a wall. Lately I’ve been eyeing the middle of the yard . . . .
If I get started on everything that I grow, and how, and why, I will NEVER DO ANYTHING ELSE. EVER. So I’ll save that for later. L
