These are some beginning photos of a new addition to an existing rear yard garden. The initial garden consists of large cypress planted along the entire back perimeter of my one-half acre yard. The backyard is fenced in with chain link along the back and sides and picket along the front. The cypress are planted along the back chain link separated in the approximate middle by 12’ of french-door gates. Only the east side of the bed of cypress was mulched. Now I am mulching the west wide, which has created a nice 9-foot-wide path between the two beds. It is now in what I call “grass” (weeds and lawn) but we may decide to pave it with pavers or slate, eventually. So far, I have added spirea (Little Princess), False Indigo, red dianthus, and threadleaf coreopis. This weekend, while washing the gazing ball, I broke it, so all we see here is the column for the gazing ball.
