I adore these gorgeous plants and never thought I could grow them so successfully as I am now. My first 3 years attempts were pathetic. Too much sun, too little moisture. They got aphids and hated me and I didn’t think too much of the abutilons.
Now after many many transplanting sessions, some good insecticidal soap in the early spring and summer, ample water and dappled sunlight….these stunning tropical like shrubs give me flowers all summer long and even into December in our mild cilmates.
I prune 1/3 back in the fall and also fertilize with fish emulsion in spring and summer
graffiti's Abutilon Collection garden is an outdoor garden and is located in Portland, Oregon, United States and currently contains 6 plants.
This is a Tropical garden that is known to be in USDA Hardiness Zone 9a. It has mainly Combination soil and receives Dappled Sun light.Photos

I just discovered some of these at the Beaverton Farmers Market last summer. I bought a couple and only one is growing back, a very nice pale yellow variety. Good luck with yours I’ll be following your progress. Looks like the Beaverton Farmers Market has even more for sale this year.
