This is a raised bed we built several years ago. It wraps around the front porch facing south. In the summer it gets full sun for most of the day. The rest of the year, when the sun is lower in the sky, it gets mostly shade, due to a huge stand of Douglas Fir and Cedar trees across the street.
For the last few years it’s been an annual bed, because Mr. H likes the bright red geraniums. One each end, where the bed wraps around the front porch, there are permanent plantings. The rosemary on the east side is doing very well. But, on the west side is a very unhappy clematis. I need to find something bushy to shade the lower half of the plant, that won’t grow so large that it will take over the small area.
