A bunch of my friends have been going “plant crazy,” growing food and other delightful things in container gardens in their apartments, as most of us live in major cities. There’s been a bit of a buzz on the online community we all frequent (we met through the internet and continue to meet in person and everyone is awesome because it’s Jess’s website and BB) surrounding new aquisitions, exciting developments in older plants, awesome names (ie — Aloe Gore), etc. So it’s kind of wormed its way into my brain, along with talk among my housemates about starting to grow our own food as well. So earlier this week I was driving along some state road from a meeting at French Creek State Park when I decided to stop at a roadside market which sold plants almost exclusively. On a whim, I decided to seek out some herbs and start a container herb garden. My bedroom windows open onto the porch overhang, which gets a lot of sunlight and has a lot of space, so I picked out a bunch of herbs that would get a lot of use in our kitchen. I’m really excited about my new project and already thinking about which vegetables I would like to raise next, but let’s see how this goes, first.
